PDB Letters: NAV and Piracy?
By Thiravudh Khoman

Re: Concerned World Citizen's letter "No grounds to support piracy" (Post Database, 06-Sep-2000), as a licensed user of Norton Anti-Virus myself, I'd like to point out that while it is possible to "upgrade it via the Internet REGULARLY, at NO CHARGE ...", it is legal to do so ONLY if your subscription has NOT expired. McAfee's VirusScan, if I'm not mistaken, allows you to download virus definitions (but not engine upgrades) gratis ad infinitum, but not so with NAV.

As a someone so clearly concerned about software piracy, I have little doubt CWA's subscription is paid for and up-to-date, but can other NAV users say the same? Too bad though that CWA wasn't "concerned" enough to make his/her point using a real name (I'd be awfully upset if MY mother named me "Concerned World Citizen" despite all its wonderful connotations).
